Dear devotees and friends of Goloka Dhama,
We are happy that once again we can share a few words with you that will hopefully inspire all our hearts.
As we are preparing for the most auspicious and eagerly awaited time of the year, the appearance day of Lord Krishna, we are reflecting on welcoming the Lord to the place where we eternally experience mutual loving reciprocation - our own hearts. What is that place where the Lord will happily reside?
Lord Krishna, the delight of Braja, eternally resides in that magical land - Vrindavan-dhama, where the loving reciprocation between the Lord and His dear devotees takes place. What is that abode like, the place where Krishna lives, laughs and loves?
It is the eternal abode of genuine love, loving care and kind dealings. No worldly endeavour or asset, in the form of austerities and penances, strength, wealth, beauty, expertise or knowledge, will bring Krishna and His abode into our hearts – He does not care about these. Krishna cares about one thing only: a pure, humble, loving heart which opens and extends itself to Him, His dear devotees and the devotees of His devotees in a selfless spirit of loving service.
In the spiritual world, everyone is a servant. Krishna happily says, “I am the servant of the cows.” And the cows are thinking, “I am the servant of Krishna and everyone else.” And the gopas are thinking, “I am the servant of Krishna and the cows.” Everyone has this spirit of loving devotion to others.
Radhanath Maharaj gives us a path to follow when he articulates the mood of Krishnadas Kaviraj Goswami, “I offer my prostrated obeisance worshipping the dust of the feet of every single devotee, the advanced acharyas, all the way to the new-coming neophytes who are just getting inspired to follow bhakti, anyone who is approaching Krishna. Let me worship them with my heart.”
Our hearts can also be inspired by such humility, gratitude and genuine appreciation - the appreciation of every exchange with others, every joy and sorrow they bring, every hope and every challenge, and each and every chance to serve, knowing that such a heart will bring pleasure to Krishna's heart. And when Krishna is pleased with that loving and giving spirit of bhakti or devotion, He will attract our hearts into His pastimes of love and place His loving heart into our hearts.
This is Janmastami – inviting Krishna into our hearts with our love and opening our hearts to receive His love.
Janmastami day is immediately followed by our beloved Founder Acarya Srila Prabhupada’s appearance day, who literally followed Krishna in every way possible, even in terms of birthdays! In the spirit of loving compassion and selflessness, Srila Prabhupada keeps leading us back to Godhead even today. You are cordially invited to join us for a blissful celebration of undying love and devotion in the association of devotees.
Your servant in the name of Goloka Dhama,
Nitya Kisori devi dasi
On Saturday the 13th of July the Vyasa Puja of H.H. Bhakti-bhusana Maharaj was celebrated in Goloka Dhama.
Bhakti-bhusana Swami was initiated as Sucandra das by Srila Prabhupada in Hamburg on 5th September 1969. It was the first initiation given by Srila Prabhupada in Europe. H.H. Bhakti-bhusana Maharaja has been preaching in Germany for many years and since 1982 mainly in South America and now also in Central America, but also visits his native Germany once or twice a year.
Many of his students from Spain, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico and even China came to this year's event in Goloka Dhama. The celebration was preceded by long and thorough planning and the combination of the German devotees and the guests from Latin America created a harmonious atmosphere of deep devotion at the feet of the spiritual master.
Srila Bhakti-bhusana Maharaja mentioned afterwards that this was the most beautiful Vyasa Puja in Germany. And the pujaris wish that this group would organise a meeting of disciples in Goloka Dhama at least once a year, so enthusiastic were they all.
"So Lord Kṛṣṇa for this reason has appeared. He wants to call the conditioned souls back to Godhead. He wants us to realize that He is the source of the whole universe, He is the owner of the universe, He is the supreme enjoyer, the supreme knower of everything, and that we are always welcome to associate with Him by the grace of His devotees, by the grace of a spiritual master. And so He has appeared, and we are now celebrating the Janmāṣṭamī day."
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
